Redhead Beach - It's all here in Black & White!

We took the dogs to Redhead Beach for a run.  It was just before Sunset.

There wasn't the golden coloured sky that I was hoping to capture; the sea spray formed a perfect fog further south along the beach.  The sky was a weird dirty orange colour and I wondered if perhaps there was some dust still hanging in the upper atmosphere from that Volcano explosion in the Pacific Ocean.

The fog from the sea spray did set the scene for converting the photos to black and white.  I adjusted the contrast slightly to darken the walkers and present them as silhouettes against the white fog in the background.  It appears a little spooky; like people appearing from out of nowhere through the fog!

As always, there were plenty of dog having a ball on the beach.  If ever you want to see a dog smile, take them to the beach!  Our two dogs hadn't been to the beach much at all.  The last time we went there and let them off leash, they took off like mischievous kids too intent on exploring to note how far they had run away from us.  It took ages to retrieve them!  This time our daughter and her two dogs were with us as well and, her older dog never strays too far.  Our two must have taken his lead because, when we did eventually let them off the leash to test the water again, they ran around madly but were never too far away and came back when called!

There was also a Kite Surfer out in the waves; just amazing to see him working his magic in the rough conditions.

The black and white conversions were edited using Adobe Lightroom and the Nik Silver Efex Pro 2 software.  I highly recommend the Nik Silver Efex Pro software.  It is such a brilliant programme for black and white with heaps of adjustable templates.

These shot on a Canon 90D with Canon EF-S 18-135mm zoom.
