Barneys’ got a Nose for Mushy Peas!!

Kasey had a short course on tonight in town and, because she has not picked up her new car as yet, Kim & I drove her in, with Rhiannan also, and had a very informal dinner at Harrys’ Cafe de Wheels on the Newcastle Foreshore.   We took Barney along with us for the  experience.    There we were sitting at the bench seat about to tuck into a lovely beef pie with mash and mushy peas and gravy when, all of a sudden…….Barney jumps up with his front feet on the table and sinks his mouth into my mushy peas and mash!!

It all happened so quick I was gobsmacked but then we just all burst out laughing!   Barney had a fun night but was a little apprehensive about so many people about on the foreshore.   He was very intrigued by the trains going backwards and forwards, often just stopping dead and watching them intently!  We want to take him out more often so he can get used to all those things going on around him.

We took him to the beach for the first time on Tuesday.   He lovP3100069ed it; there were so many smells for him to experience.   He wasn’t really impressed with the waves at first because he got soaked from a wave that turned out to be bigger than we thought.   After a while, he appeared comfortable to walk into the water as it ran up the beach but still kept an eye out for the bigger waves.   Here is a pic of Barney trying to get the absolute last lick out of a yoghurt container.   He loves yoghurt!!

Kasey finally picks up her new car tomorrow.  She has been impatient to get it and has been waiting over 3 weeks for it to be delivered and for a few things to get added to it.

I have a visit today from Sue Sutherland and her husband Lewis.   Sue & I were in High School together and we got back in contact with each other thru Facebook.   She & Lewis were here from Rockhampton [QLD] for the Ulysses AGM and it was great to catch up again!   She is still the same Sue that I knew in High School 35 years ago!

Last weekend I was at the Gold Coast for my sister, Theresas’, 50th birthday party.   She and husband Col rented the penthouse of a 5 story apartment block on Tugun Beach.   It was an excellent location overlooking the beach but, unfortunately, the weather was not great!   My bro-in-law, Tony Shaw, brought his guitar along and we had a few beers/bundies/wines and sang and played out on the balcony.   At about 1115pm reception phones and asks us to please bring the music inside.   It is the first time the ‘kids’ [my bros, sisters and I!] had been together for a few years.  Mum came over from Beaudesert on the Saturday arvo and she had a good time also!

Thats about it for now.   I have a week left of my leave.   Not enough time to do everything I wanted to around the house!Sad smile

Anyway, hope you are all well!

The Fishing Family - Bolton Point

Went to Bolton Point on the beautiful Lake Macquarie to get some Sunset photos. Can you believe that when I left home the sky was clear but on arrival some cloud had sprung up in the West. Them's the breaks eh? Caught this great scene of a family fishing off the Jetty at Bolton point.

What a time it has been since my last report!!…….

It has been pretty full on !   Things happening left, right and, centre!!

Started off after Kim had X-Rays taken of her back.  She has had some problems with an old injury of late and her lower back and hip have been giving her hell.   Anyway, turns out that she has Osteo-Arthritis in her low back and right hip and that is what is giving her the pain.   She has started taking Glucosomine [with something-or-other added] which hopefully will assist with those affected joints and get her back to virtual normality.

Kasey had a car accident on Saturday afternoon.   She was stopped behind a car that was turning right but had to wait for oncoming traffic when BAM – this stupid bitch ran straight into her back end.   She didnt even brake.   When exchanging details she made a comment to the effect of    ‘I dont even have my Mobile Phone with me today’.   Why would you say that?    We all reckon that she was texting on her phone and just wasnt even looking!
I had to bend the mudflap back so the car could be driven home.   The rear bumper was pushed in and the 2 side panels were creased from being pushed forward.    The 2 rear doors are really outta whack also.   Kasey and Matt went to the John Hunter Hospital the next day because they both ended up with sore necks and headaches; he diagnosed mild whiplash.

It looks as if her car will be written off.   This is annoying because she will be without a car now for a cuppla weeks at least BUT she now has to borrow even more to be able to afford another car.   The  Police took the report as a P5 accident because they were not called to the initial incident and the car was driven home.    This means there will be no infringement given to the dumb bitch for negligent driving.   I hope that AAMI insurance gives her hell when they go to recoup the costs!!!

On other news fronts, Barney is growing very quickly.   We think he may grow a little larger than we had first thought but are not particularly worried about that; he has so much character and has fitted in really well!

The painting has come to a standstill for this week because after the rain we had last week the weeds are prolific in the garden and the grass is growing very quickly!   I will need to do some gardening before that job gets too big!

I managed to stay awake the other morning after my 2nd nightshift.   I walked down to Newcastle beach to get some sunrise photos and am happy to say that I snapped some beauties!   They are on this blog down the page or you can click on the photos link on the right to see them on Flickr.   It was a good morning; I had started to have photo and Flickr withdrawal symptoms!

Had a beauty storm whip thru here this arvo.   Some trees in the streets are down and some have snapped off halfway!   It only lasted for about 20 minutes but we had some lovely heavy rain with it!

Anyway, gotta go now, dinner will be ready very soon and I am starvin’.

Luv to all

Newcastle Beach Dawn

Taken from James Fletcher Park and looking down onto Newcastle Beach. Just on dawn I was happy to see that the beach lights were still on also.

Newcastle Beach Dawn

This is a great beach!

Newcastle Beach Sunrise

The reflection of the clouds was brilliant on the wet sand although I wished I had've worn shorts and thongs! I was still dressed in my runners and jeans after work and they got a bit wet!

Newcastle Beach Sunrise

Hit the beach after a nightshift. I was a little disappointed with the cloud that was hanging around but persevered and actually, now, I think that the cloud adds a lot to the photo. It was about 6.30am when this was taken and the day was starting out hot and humid already! Love my wide angle lens!
